Heart of the Community Award/Calon y Gymuned

Schools will work towards gaining ‘Heart of the Community Awards.’ (Calon y Gymuned), through a support network created by The Foundation.

School Mentors and Foundation Directors will work with you to captivate and elevate community engagement, supporting you to continue your journey towards quality family and community engagement. There will be entry level bronze Community Awards, Silver Level Community Awards and Gold Level Community Awards. Schools who maintain standards and are consistently empowering their communities will be Calon y Gymuned Heart of the Community Ambassador Schools.

They will be judged to be at the pinnacle their Path towards Excellence and will be ambassadors for working with community schools across Wales. The staff who work so hard to deliver the community engagement agenda will also be recognised as Heart of the Community Practitioners and will receive their own Calon y Gymuned award alongside their School.

School will be asked to self-evaluate their work against the Pathway, telling their stories, and measuring their success against 3 levels of achievement. This will provide schools with a document that will be valued by external partners and create an excellent evidence base for all external stakeholders, including Consortia and Estyn.
